Shadow Lounge & AVA 5972 Baum Boulevard 15206

Weekly open stages: Human Nature, one of Pittsburgh longest running open mics for Poets, Emcees and Vocalists hosted by Yah Lioness; Netrock, first and third Wednesdays, offer full band slots hosted by indie alternative rockers, Dawn Canon; Rise and Shine, bi-weekly Wednesday acoustic open-mic hosted by Nik Westman of The Central Plains and Gene Stovall. 

Brillobox 4104 Penn Avenue 15224 
Known in Pittsburgh, for its resident artist clientele and indie alternative live performances. Many notable touring acts that have graced the Brillobox stage include: Elf Power, The Black Angels, Black Moth Super Rainbow and Man Man to name but a few. The vibrant yet dark ambience makes this hotspot a great space for socializing in the downstairs bar or to hear local or national indie rockers in the upstairs performance space.
Weekly events include: Sunday night's YouTube Happy Hour showing your requested videos and Wednesday night's Pub Quiz, not for the trivia faint of heart. The Brillobox also features an extensive vegetarian menu. 

Lava Lounge 2204 East Carson Street 15203 
Known in Pittsburgh, for its volcano-esque atmosphere crafted by local artists Scott Kramer and Steve Zumoff. Featuring a plethora of micro-brews and tasty meat/meatless snacks, the Lava Lounge takes the term lounge to a whole new level. Thursday nights play host to local and out of town bands, making it a great bang for your buck when seeking new music.
Weekly events include: Monday's Spelling Bee with Kumar and Friday's Happy Hour Karaoke.

Garfield Artworks 4931 Penn Avenue 15224 
Known in Pittsburgh, as the best place to hear under the radar bands that are sure to satisfy any discerning musical palate. Garfield Artworks hosts national, international and local bands and musicians that are destined for thousands of Myspace friend requests even before they know it. Notable touring acts that have passed through include: We Are Scientists, Chromeo, Mum, XIU XIU, The Firey Furnaces, Viva Voce and Deerhunter to name a but a mere handful.

Club Cafe 56-58 South 12th Street 15203 
Known in Pittsburgh, for its wired performance space creating live audio/video recordings and its wildy popular AcoustiCafe Open Stage Monday nights. Club Cafe is a modern take on a nightclub and performance space integrating an intimate live show atmosphere. Local and National musicians grace the stage nearly six nights a week making this club a shoe-in to hear music for whatever the occasion on almost any night of the week.
